Xiaolongkan Hot Pot in Alhambra serves up a Sichuan-style hot pot experience that’s well-suited for diners who enjoy customizing their meal around bold, numbing spices and fresh ingredients. Located on West Valley Blvd, this spot combines traditional Chinese hot pot culture with a thoughtfully arranged interior that nods to Chinese aesthetics without feeling overdone or crowded.

The restaurant offers a range of broth bases, including a dual soup option that balances spicy and mild flavors — great if you’re dining with someone who has differing spice preferences. Expect the classic spicy beef tallow broth to bring authentic mala intensity, tempered by a milder bone broth that still holds rich flavor. The variety of fresh meats, like lamb, beef belly, and crystal beef slices, along with fare such as tofu skin and chicken feet, invites you to build your meal slowly and savor each bite.

Service here stands out as attentive without being intrusive. Servers often check in to make sure you’re comfortable and well-stocked, which is helpful given the multi-step process of selecting ingredients, simmering, and making your own dipping sauces from the sauce bar. This makes it a social, interactive dining option that works well for groups or family meals where the pace of dining is unhurried and shared.

Lunch visits come with an approachable price point that locals appreciate, avoiding the sticker shock that sometimes accompanies specialty hot pot places. The interior is tidy and well-kept, making it pleasant not just for dinner but also midday meals.

If you’re looking for an authentic Sichuan hot pot in the San Gabriel Valley that emphasizes quality ingredients, clear broth flavors, and a calm, clean setting, Xiaolongkan is a solid choice. Come here if you want to focus on the balance of spicy broth and fresh ingredients, and don’t shy away from trying the sauce bar to tailor your dipping flavors exactly to your taste.

After watching the TV series Brothers of Sun the scene was very atmospheric. I never dared to eat in because the price was very expensive. Today I went in for hot pot at noon. It was not only clean, comfortable, tidy and beautiful, but also had a special lunch price. I was pleasantly surprised. I even felt like it when I paid. Excellent value for money.

This hotpot place has some good quality meats and broth. The pricing is decent too for what you get. We got the bone broth and spicy. Both were very good and the selection was diverse. The veggies were excellent, especially the corn, napa cabbage and the lotus root. The meats were also great. The ribeye, short rib, shrimp paste with roe and pepper corn beef were great. The lamb and beef belly were also good. The sauce station is very simple and constantly restocked. The staff is very attentive and constantly looking to grab empty trays and deliver orders in a very quick timely manner. The decor is very neat and cultural relevant to the Chinese food.

This hot pot spot was recommended by my Chinese friend, and it didn’t disappoint Unlike all-you-can-eat places, you select your ingredients, and they’re brought to your table. We opted for mushroom, mala, and bone soup bases. Be warned—the mala base is extremely spicy, so choose your spice level carefully The ingredients were fresh, and the service was excellent. However, the portions for each ingredient were quite large, so if you’re with fewer than three people, it might be hard to try a variety. It was wonderful to enjoy authentic hot pot again after a long time. Highly recommend!

Good place to have a Chinese Hotpot with a decent price. The side bar offer your choices of ingredients to make your sauce along with side dishe and desert. Pleasant inside decoration that reflect Chinese culture is a plus.

This was my first time trying Xiaolongkan Hot Pot and it won’t be my last! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the ingredients were all fresh. But what really stood out was the excellent service. Our server cookie was incredibly helpful, checking in often to see if we needed anything, and always making sure we were comfortable. They made the experience feel effortless and enjoyable.

If you have never done hotpot before, make sure you come with someone who knows. They are not good at explaining or helping out. I would recommend to come with 4 people at least, this way you can order to share more things (meat, fish, vegetables, whatever you like). I had the gold broth (chicken soup broth) and their original broth (spicy level 1). It felt very spicy to me but I usually like mild. So it makes sense.
